Hands in a Jar
03:42
|
|||
I was born into this world, a silver needle in my mouth
Every blink was a setting sun casting darkness all around
Or a lightning strike that obscured the night spreading my spark across the land
I speak in tongues and in rhythmic songs gnawing deep within my head
Clouded lines only leave your mind in search of words I should’ve said
Sold my soul so I could play this guitar but it never really helped me write a song
Carried around like stones in your pocket
You can only bear the weight for so long
You may treat me like a passing stranger
But the burden is strongest when it’s gone
Masquerading wearing hero’s armor, weary body lacking peaceful sound
Oh if only between my fingers silence could be found
I’d put my hands in a mason jar holding on tightly for all to see

Bend, OR

Take me to the place that you call home
Take me to the place you hail from
Take me to the place that gave me you
Take me to Bend, OR
Take me to Bend, OR
Show me the streets that you played in
Show me your favorite place to hide
Show me the house you grew up in
Show me Bend, OR
Show me Bend, OR
Lend me your eyes
Paint me a picture with your words
I'll keep them well
Next to my memories of you
I wanna see the place where you found your heart
I wanna see the place you first found love
I wanna see the place where you lost it all
I wanna see Bend, OR
I wanna see Bend, OR
Lend me your eyes
Paint me a picture with your words
I'll keep them well
Next to my memories of you

Lock & Key
03:34
|
|||
I know some people who keep
Their secrets in their hearts and souls
Under lock and key
They keep their demons at bay
Ignoring the voices in their head
I can’t say I am the same
I have no lock and key
To stow away these things
I bear them all to you
I always have
And I always will
My heart is an open book
The pages bare all there’s to read
I have no secrets
And hardly a soul left to share
My demons will always be there
They are dancing at the edge of my vision
They wait for my friends of flesh and bone
To leave me alone with them before they come out and strum on my heart strings
And beat rhythms on my ear drums
While the voices in my head
Sing so god damn loud
I have no lock and key
To stow away these things
I bear them all to you
I always have
And I always will
I know some people who keep
Their secrets in their hearts and souls
Under lock and key
They keep their demons at bay
And ignore the voice in their head
I can’t say I am the same
I have no lock and key
To stow away these things
I bear them all to you
I always have
And I always will

Sleep
04:34
|
|||
Caught in the light of the moon
As stars circle and dance around my room
I lie awake
As the world around me waits
For me to sleep
The weight on my eyes
Presses and burdens my body as hours go by
But still my lids wont meet
And the warmth beneath my sheets
Is eluding me
Cast up your hands
And pull down, pull down on the sun
Cause I've been awake
All night and mornings bound to come
Narcoleptic dreams
Would be oh so inviting to me
I speak not in jest
Cause any kind of rest
Is all that I need
Cast up your hands
And pull down, pull down on the sun
Cause I've been awake
All night and mornings bound to come

I was never brave
Passed from my father
The same crooked face
His broken hands still
Crawl from the grave
His broken hands still
Crawl from the grave
Drawn to the siren's call
Traced in the light
In the sky above
A name written on a
Concrete wall
A name written on a
Concrete wall
Caught in a nest
Of crows
I fixate on faces
Un-eager to show
But I heard a voice
In my head long ago
I heard a voice
In my head long ago
Tell me I'm strong
And who will find you
And who will guide you
You cannot see them
But they will find you

Filth
03:51
|
|||
Filth finds its way
Into the purest of places
Clutters the cause
Weakens the walls
It finds its way
Into the purest of places
It’ll find its way
Filth finds its way
Into the clearest of cities
Breaks down barriers
Scatters the streets
It finds its way
Into the clearest of cities
It’ll find its way
It’ll find its way
Tossed like a brick
And crushed by a hammer
Among the fallen leaves
I'll float down the river
And when I finally reach dry land
The earth that lies below my feet
Swallows me
Filth finds its way
Into the slightest of seekers
Steals salvation
Lures the loss
It finds its way
Into the slightest of seekers
It’ll find its way
It’ll find its way
Tossed like a brick
And crushed by a hammer
Among the fallen leaves
I'll float down the river
And when I finally reach dry land
The earth that lies below my feet
Swallows me
