lyrics

Lyrics by Gretchen Weber and Alec Seeley

Oh Minnesota you've been so good to me
Knitted to fulfill our consuming spree
The midwest lands create a blanket full of harvest
Driven to destroy everything around us

Oh Winter you've been so good to me
But the globes a-spinning and the atlas needs a read
Your cold harsh storm leaves the old father’s plane
Lost on the map without a wing

The blackboard’s above, and I see all the markings
Eraser in my hand to forget about the stories
Holding a blank slate with my bags in my hands
Anyway to get out of town, I’ll do all I can
They will never understand why I can’t stay
I’m a runaway

Oh Mama you've been so good to me
I’ll forget about time when I'm high over the sea
Clearing my head full of questions without rhyme
Forgetting the past aint a crime

The blackboard’s above, and I see all the markings
Eraser in my hand to forget about the stories
Holding a blank slate with my bags in my hands
Anyway to get out of town, I’ll do all I can
They will never understand why I can’t stay
I’m a runaway

Oh Home you've been so good to me
But I’m up thousands of feet and my ears are ringing
The highways and ramps paint clovers brimmed with luck
But through the clouds the mountains sing

Oh the mountains, they will sing
Oh the mountains, they will sing
If you listen through the clouds
Hear their voices ringing loud
Oh the mountains, they will sing

The blackboard’s above, and I see all the markings
Eraser in my hand to forget about the stories
Holding a blank slate with my bags in my hands
Anyway to get out of town, I’ll do all I can
They will never understand why I can’t stay
I’m a runaway
